Urban Legend Club / 都市伝説部
A downloadable game
都市伝説部 (Urban Legend Club) is a game on solving the urban mysteries in the world around you.
In Japan, urban legends range from mysterious and paranomral beings to widespread rumors within a particular society. In this game, you belong to a club adamant on solving these mysteries to reveal the truths of your world.
Through a structured system utilizing a deck of cards, you will simulate mysteries, the clues that lead you to the resolution, as well as twists and turns that change the outcome of your investigation in various ways. This game can be played solo or with friends, with all prompts randomly generated to allow for GM-less play.
The game includes a PDF of the entire game that can be played with a single sheet of paper. The sheet itself includes extra content if printed double-sided, but is entirely playable on a single sheet.
What you need to play
- Pencil and paper (digital or analog)
- A deck of cards (excluding jokers)
This game was created as part of the One-Page RPG Jam 2022 game jam.

This is a fantastic one-page game! I just did a playthrough and particularly enjoyed how Close the Case works. My mystery remained unsolved, but I still had a great time
Thanks for the wonderful comment and glad you had fun! Hopefully the unsolved mystery adds to the worldbuilding of your world and lays the foundation for future mysteries.
Question. What is the showdown card supposed to match with? The average clues or the case card? I'm still a bit confused on this part :(
Thanks for the question! You want to match the suit and number of the showdown card to the suits and numbers of all previously drawn clue cards.
Let’s say you draw the 10 of spades as your showdown card:
Hope that helps!
Oh okay. Thank you very much!
This is fabulous! Took me two minutes to envision how charming the system is. How often are cards put back in the deck and shuffled? (The Confrontation seems to require this.)
Thanks for the comment! There’s no hard rule for shuffling - shuffling after each case will result in the most randomness and lower chances of the complete solve for each case, so you can shuffle after each case to increase difficulty.
Alternatively, you can shuffle only after you run out of cards to draw. This signifies the growth of your club’s ability to resolve mysteries through the experience they’ve built up over the many cases they’ve encountered, with a shuffle indicating that a new era of mysteries have come into play that require new ways of thinking.
Let me know which works better for you - I’ll think about incorporating this in another iteration!
One of the first solo games I actually finished a full session of, and the most fun I've had with this genre so far. So I can say it's very beginner friendly!
I'm excited to flesh out my characters a little more and more mysteries >:)
Thanks for playing and commenting here! Excited for your next mysteries, hope some of the clues don’t just lead you astray!
Neat little game. A bit confusing if you are not accustom to solo games, but drives story forward smoothly. Highly recommended for an hour or two of joyful fun.
Thanks for the comment and picture, hope Yuki managed to solve some mysteries!
Hi!
We find your game very interesting and plan to use it in local RPG event soon. Would you allow us to translate "Urban Legend Club" into Polish and publish it on our itch profile - skybluekey.itch.io?
Thanks for reaching out - I’d prefer to keep all versions of Urban Legend Club on the same page, so if you’re willing to create a translation I’d be more than happy to add it on this page and credit you!
Hi, sure! I don't have your contact details, please write to blekitnyklucz@gmail.com and I will send you our translation.
Sent you a message, looking forward to your translation!
This game is really well done! Great theme and game feel. Just finished Persona 4 and this reminded me of the Investigation Team so much! Nice job :)
Fun game, feels a little like creating your own Scooby Doo mystery (especially if you pick New England as the setting, which I did) :D
